Sturt Sabres Domestic Summer Competition
When / Where
- The Summer Sturt Domestic Competition is run across 8 Saturdays in Term 4 and 7 Saturdays in Term 1. We do not play during school holidays or any long weekends.
- We play competition games across multiple venues around the Pasadena area. These include Springbank Sports Centre, Unley High School, Cabra Dominican College, and Concordia College and Mercedes College.
- Games begin at 11:50am and start every 50 minutes after this. The younger age groups usually play in the first few timeslots leading into older age groups later. The last game generally begins at 4pm.
The first round is Saturday 19th October 2024.
Registrations
- All registrations are completed through BasketballConnect. There is one fee at point of registration as there is no longer a weekly match fee.

Uniforms
- It is mandatory all teams play in matching uniforms. Sturt Domestic Uniforms can be purchased through Sturt. All uniforms are reversible and come with matching shorts. Team name can be placed on the front and player’s surname on the back. The uniforms come in a range of colours and are $71 each. Team uniform: https://form.jotform.com/240218046939055

Age Groups
- Sturt will be following this age group bracket based off Birth year:
U8s – 2018 and 2019
U10s – 2016 and 2017
U12s – 2014 and 2015
U14s – 2012 and 2013
U16s – 2010 and 2011
U19s – 2007, 2008 and 2009
Age Grouping is in line with the District Program; however, Sturt can be flexible on a case-by-case basis depending special circumstances. All requests are to be sent to the Domestic Coordinator.
Coaching
- All teams are to supply a manager or coach for the team. Teams must have someone to oversee the team on gameday and substitute / coach the team. Sturt are requesting all teams have their own coach. If this is unachievable, please discuss with the Domestic Coordinator.
- Sturt will run Domestic Coach education sessions for anyone who is looking at improving their skills and confidence.
- All coaches will receive a $50 discount off their fees.
- If you have a change of coach / manager throughout the season. Please let us know as soon as possible.
Training
- Group Trainings are held at Springbank Sports Centre. This is a place for players to work on skills and drills and learn basic gameplay.
- All players need to be registered for training as it is an additional cost. There will be a separate link sent out for this.
- U12s / 14s / 16s / 19s is held on Thursdays 5:00pm-5:45pm.
- U8s / 10s & Girls are held on Friday 5:00pm-5:45pm.
Grading
- The first 3 rounds of the competition will be grading.
- There will be minimal changes after Grading is completed.
- During Team registration process, there will be a preferred pool placing box. Please select the pool you prefer to be in.
- All Sturt created teams will be placed in the lowest pool unless requested otherwise.
Skills Day
- All Individual Registrations will attend a skills session prior to the competition where we will group teams together. This is so we have a better understanding of where kids should be placed and what Pool we will place the team.
- We are introducing this method for this competition to hopefully create a better experience for individuals who are placed in a Sturt created team.
- A date for this will be sent out at a later date.

- All Coaches / Managers are to provide there Working with Children Check to the club.
